Entertainment in Tokyo
Tokyo nightlife hotspots
Roppongi
Roppongi is where the action is at if your looking to get into some action. The street is populated with large bouncer types who will try and lure you into the establishments. If you can't see the inside of the place from the street, use caution, you could be getting into a highly dynamic situation. The department of tourism suggests that this area might be one to avoid as drink spiking instances are not uncommon. The nightlife, however is there to be had. A liveley dancing and dining scene makes this a lively and attractive area for the adventurous.
Shibuya
If you want to see the international side of Japan, where there is a greater degree of cultural blend in the nightlife, visit Shibuya. During the day, shopping in that district can be quite entertaining. A frequent visitor there recommends that if the nightlife hits you too hard in the morning, that you just catch a ride on the Yamonote line, which runs in a circular track and sleep until it wears off. Naturally this will prepare you for another round of festivities. If you are still in a modest pace, you may find Harajaku park, near the station, to be quite relaxing. For a bit of coffee and a taste of world franchise to remind you of home, a local Starbucks is nearby.
Ueno
The seedy side of Tokyo can be found in Ueno after dark. During the day, it can be an enjoyable place to find and visit various temples or for a different cultural experience you may want to visit the Tokyo International museum.
